Each domain (e.g. mustermann.de) is managed by a so-called Internet provider (webhoster). Since every Internet provider offers different prices and services, the customer has the possibility to switch from one provider to another if he is dissatisfied with one provider.
If a domain moves from one provider to another, this process is referred to as "Provider Change" or, for example, when domains ending in .DE are moved, as "KK" (Connectivity Coordination/Konnektivitäts-Koordination).
During this process, the rights to administer the domain are transferred from one provider to another via the registry where the domain is registered.
If you change your provider, only the domain will be moved, but not, for example, your Internet presence. Before changing your provider, you should always secure your data, e.g. from your Internet presence.
