If you receive one of these error messages on your website, it is due to incorrectly assigned file rights.
If this error message appears, too many rights have been assigned (777).
In the error message in the following picture, too few rights (e.g. 664) were assigned for the respective file/folder.
In both cases it is sufficient in most cases to set the rights to "775".
If you are using a CMS, the correct file permissions are usually set in the CMS manual.
To fix the error, first connect to your FTP client (e.g. FileZilla) and your FTP access data to your webhosting package. Search there for the corresponding file/folder and right-click on the file.
In the menu that appears, select "File permissions...".
The following screen appears, in which you can set the file rights by ticking on and off the individual permissions...
...or enter the required permissions in the lower text field "Numeric value".
Confirm the change by clicking on the "OK" button.
If incorrect file rights have been assigned in several places, the same error may now be displayed for another file or folder. In this case, repeat the previous steps for the displayed file/folder.
