Current servers running Apache 2.4 or higher can cause problems with Jetpack. The reason for this is that the htaccess syntax has changed in the new Apache version. If you get the following error, this guide will tell you how to fix the problem.
Open an FTP program (e.g. FileZilla) and connect to your webhosting package with your FTP data. There you open the main directory in which your WordPress installation is located. Search there for the .htaccess file and open it in a text editor in which you select the file, right-click and select "View/Edit" from the menu that appears.
In the .htaccess file insert the lines shown in the screenshot. If there is already an entry with the old syntax for files xmlrpc.php, replace it.
Save the .htaccess file and switch back to FileZilla. It is now asked automatically, whether the old file should be overwritten. Confirm the question with "Yes".
The connection from Jetpack to your website is possible immediately after the change.
