With the Nvu-Composer it is possible to create your own website without technical knowledge of HTML.
The Nvu-Composer offers a so-called WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) editor.
In this tutorial we will show you how to upload your homepage to your webspace via FTP.
After the first start of the Nvu-Composer the following window appears:
Simply click on the "Ok" button here.
In the next window you will see tips for using the Nvu-Composer.
If you want to skip this display in the future, remove the check mark in front of the text "Show tips at startup".
Then click on the "X" in the upper right corner to close the window.
After you have designed your homepage according to your wishes, click the "Publish" button in the menu bar in the upper left corner.
The following input mask appears:
Page name: Here you enter the name that should appear in the title bar of the browser when your page is called.
HTTP address of your homepage: Enter here the address without "www." under which your page can be called in the browser.
Publication URL: Enter your domain name here without "http://www." followed by the directory /htdocs.
The /htdocs directory is always the root directory of the domain into which the data is uploaded.
If there are several domains within a web hosting package, the directory may vary.
Username/Password: Now enter your FTP access data, which you will receive by email (your access data for the domain ...).
Finally, place a check mark in front of "Save password" so that the settings for the next time can be transferred.
Now click on the "Publish" tab in the upper left corner.
You will reach the following input mask:
Page title: Enter the name of the individual page to be displayed in the browser.
File name: Please make sure that the start page of your homepage has one of the following names (index.html; index.htm; index.php). Pay attention to the upper and lower case.
Then click on the "Publish" button.
The following window appears:
The data is now uploaded. Then click on the "Close" button.
If you call up your domain in an Internet browser, you will see your homepage.
